Note: Below I lay out what you can expect currently from Wall Street Beats.
And… we’re off!
Today is the first day that Wall Street Beats is live. I wanted to give you a brief road map on where we are, where we’re going… and what I’ll be doing.
First, thanks for joining us.
My business partner Steven Lamar and I genuinely couldn’t be more excited about what we’re doing.
We know we’re onto something…
That’s exactly what you should expect given the partnership of seasoned pros we’ve brought together… all of them exceptionally intelligent, talented, independently minded. And all here to hopefully give you an edge. (You can read their bios here.)
And this is just our starting lineup since our goal is to selectively bring on several more.
What they all share in common: They’re all as interested in learning from each other as well as sharing what they know with you. They all have broad experience on the sell and/or buy side. All are working from their homes or private offices and many were actively hoping to engage with other active investors.
Introducing the Beats Roundtable
The centerpiece of what we’re doing is our morning call, which we refer to as the Beats Roundtable. I’m the primary moderator, but I also alternate with several others, including Nadine Terman and Paul Meeks.
In the months of doing trial runs, we’ve engaged in thoughtful discussion, and often provocative discourse – all of it steeped in the strategies of what our team is doing with their own money. Some involve long-term ideas and investments. Some, short-term trades. Every now and then we even have a few lottery tickets thrown in.
As an offshoot of the Roundtable, we also started an internal WhatsApp chat, which is a real-time exchange of ideas and observations that is so good we’re opening it up to subscribers. Roundtable subscribers will see a read-only version; subscribers to The Exchange will be able to interact and ask questions.
Ultimately, our goal is for all or most pros to have their own Pro to Pro products as they launch their own offerings on the Wall Street Beats platform. As they do, like TV spinoffs, they’ll be variations of research, podcasts or whatever they believe their subscribers will want. For some, it may merely be direct access during “office hours” on group calls or chats.
My Role in all of This
Which gets us of what I’ll be doing…
I’m the equivalent of the editorial director, with my main focus on The Exchange. That’s where my content will live, as will the content of others until and if they launch their own products… and we’re hoping most will. It will also be the home of the interactive layer of our group chat.
Most of my focus, however, will be on doing what I do best: Writing.
My On the Street and Red Flag Alerts will continue. Katherine Spurlock will be joining me on Red Flag Alerts… but so will others in the group. I’ve been collaborating quite a bit with Russell Young on ideas, and also Paul Kedrosky… though he is very likely to have his own corner of the Wall Street Beats world. Ditto Benjamin Brey.
I’m a firm believer in not writing for the sake of writing. That said, I’m wired to write.
In general, if you followed me on Substack or LinkedIn, you know that I tend to write once or twice a week, sometimes more, sometimes (but rarely, unless I’m on vacation) not at all. And even then, I sometimes can’t help myself.
Avoiding Noise
But I also know there’s a fine line between providing value and becoming noise. My goal is not to cross it.
In the days, weeks and months ahead, we will be expanding, evolving and refining what we do. I compare it to a cruise ship on its inaugural cruise: Nothing is ever the way it’s supposed to be on Day One and will only improve.
Your feedback will be critical. We are open to any and all ideas.
We realize there may be growing pains and possibly technological glitches. Please bear with us – our talented production team is doing all of this in-house.
We’re just thrilled you’re along for the ride.
